When Osie Pierre is attacked during a charter fishing trip in the Bahamas,
he stops the threat and chalks it up to modern day pirates. He calls his contact
in the Agency just the same, both to report the attack, and to order weapons to
replace those he used to stop the attack.
Mathew “Doc” Pearson wants nothing more thanto put his life of service behind
him, especially the clandestine missions, the shooting, the being shot and most
of all, working with his ex-wife. Then a family member is shot, his ex-wife goes
missing, and the threats continue from seemingly unconnected sources.
Doc, Ben, Osie, and others join forces on a mission to locate, rescue, and thwart
the attacks at their source. Can they be successful without starting a war with a
hostile nation?

Mathew “Doc” Pearson wants nothing more than to put his life of service behind him, especially the clandestine missions, the shooting, the being shot and most of all, working with his ex-wife. We don’t always get what we want. Doc Pearson, a fifth-generation cattle rancher in Central Florida, earned his nickname along with his Ph.D. from the University of Florida. But he doesn’t see himself as a highbrow type, identifying more with the working dogs on his Sunset Ranch. He wants nothing more than to be left alone to enjoy working his cattle, loving those close to him and living a peaceful, agricultural lifestyle.
Doc experienced his share of excitement when he served as team leader of a Black-Ops unit handled by CIA Operative Louise Walker. Louise still maintains contact as his ex-handler, ex-wife, and mother of his only son, Ted. Special Agent Louise Walker, or as Doc prefers to call her, the She-Devil, doesn’t hesitate to involve him in various unsanctioned missions from time to time. This time, however, the mission is all on Doc. A simple cattle drive to satisfy an obscure audit to maintain control of his land. Or is there more to the ride than it appears?

Decisive, quick, and deadly, the team is joined by other operatives who, although retired from official service, still maintain their special skills and life-long commitment to their unit and to one another. Together they are a highly trained tactical team that is unhampered by the restrictions of the Posse Comitatus, the rules of war or the legal restrictions and policies that otherwise hamper official channels… unless they get caught.
Story of Steve Kidd
After 30-years of technical writing, Steve Kidd has recently turned to writing fiction calling on his love of Florida and life experiences working in parallel careers; one as a firefighter in a busy metropolitan fire department and the other as an author and multimedia producer. Both careers and extensive travel has allowed Steve to cross paths with all sorts of colorful and interesting people who cover the extreme ends of the spectrum.
